Thank You
Read Nehemiah 11:1 through 13:31
“What do you say?” a mother asked her little girl as she accepted a lollipop from the bank teller.
“Thank you,” the child mumbled shyly.
From an early age, parents teach their children to thank people as a matter of manners. Those who take the lessons to heart are careful to send cards when they’re the recipients of gifts or acts of kindness. They also let others know they appreciate their services and contributions.
As important as it is to express gratitude to one another, we must be even more diligent about thanking God. We benefit from His blessings every day of our lives. Even the beauty of a sunrise is a gift for which we can give thanks. It pleases Him when we take time to acknowledge His goodness. Nehemiah took time to organize others to publicly express thanks to God (Nehemiah 12:27).
God longs to hear the praises of His people. Whether you’re experiencing difficulties or peace and success, take time today to thank God for His goodness.
Challenge for Today: Make a list of twenty things for which you are thankful. Then take time to express your gratitude to God.
